WHAT IS THE TRUST TECHNIQUE?

James French & Shelley Slingo developed the Trust Technique a unique method of communicating based on trust, understanding, appreciation and motivation.

The Trust Technique is difficult to describe but easy to learn. With the Trust Technique it is possible to deepen the relationship and trust with your animal. It consists of 3 principles, which I would like to explain in more detail here.

  1. CREATIVE REACTION
  2. REALISATION LEARNING
  3. TRUSTED COOPERATION

1. CREATIVE REACTION

The creative reaction consists of the “Present Moment” and the “Mindful Regard” – if I can deliberately relax my animal, calmness arises and a different perception and deeper trust are possible, because the communication takes place on a level where both sides can listen and understand.

PRESENT MOMENT (PM)

Our thoughts are constantly busy analsing and evaluating based on our experiences. The past therefore determines our future. Only in the here and now – the “present moment” – can we find peace, the system can relax, healing takes place and the cells can regenerate. Too much thinking causes stress and insecurity and we share this with our animals. Only our bodies are always in the present. So if we consciously concentrate on our bodies, we can minimize thoughts, this creates peace and security and this is also transferred to our animals.

MINDFUL REGARD (MR)

“Mindful regard” is about consciously reading and understanding our animals and listening to them mentally without judging them. When someone listens to us, we feel understood, and trust can develop. The most important thing is to work at the animal’s pace. This creates a different form of communication – based on appreciation, understanding and trust.

PEACE AND UNPEACE CANNOT EXIST AT THE SAME TIME…

2. REALISATION LEARNING

If you have practiced the “Creative Reaction” with your animal over a longer period of time and can use it in a targeted manner, it is possible to change behaviour – and learn new things.

You can help the animal to specifically lower the level of thought in difficult situations so that patterns can be changed. It is important to find a safe environment and the right timing and the right distance from the trigger. Independent learning and understanding – without pressure – is the fastest way to learn!

SELF LEARNING WITHOUT PRESSURE IS THE FASTEST WAY OF LEARNING…

3. TRUSTED COOPERATION

With “trusted cooperation” you have already built up a completely different relationship and trust with your animal through “Creative Reaction” and “Realization Learning”. In difficult situations, the animal looks to me for guidance and questions how it should behave in the situation – but in a relaxed “mindset” so that learning is possible. The animals are more mentally and physically balanced and react less stressed in new situations. Communication takes place in both directions and a different perception without judgment is possible.
